1. Build a cake in the shape of a number
Let’s start this list off on the right foot. You can’t make digital cakes if you don’t know how. The above image of Parent of today shows you how to build your own number shaped cake! Just follow the guide above for what type of molds to use and how to cut cakes. Once they’re cut, just glue the pieces together to form the number you need! So funny!
2. Arrange the cupcakes in the shape of a number
If your loved one doesn’t like big cakes, why not hand them out for the party? I won’t spend a lot of time with this numbered cake idea since the title sums it up pretty well for me.
You make your cupcakes, enough to have the number you need, and voila! Easy peasy!
3. Update a store bought cake
It’s a fantastic way to decorate a birthday cake! The best part is, you don’t even have to worry about cooking. Just buy a store-bought cake and design it the way you want!
If you don’t know what to do with decorating, check out the image above. It’s a great idea for a birthday cake! All you have to do is cut out the digital shapes of the cake, then fill it all with candy, ice cream, or whatever you want! Who’s it going to, they’ll love it!
4. Polka dot delight
This design – like most of this list – can be accomplished in a number of ways. You can use the previous pattern to make a number cake yourself and then decorate it with polka dots, or take a classic cake topper and use polka dots to create the age number. Who doesn’t love peas !?
Peas are much easier to make than most people think. If you can get your hands on some fondant frosting, all you need to do is cut out the circles. Easy like that. Drop them sporadically on your cake and voila!
5. Make a drip cake
Drip cakes have been the spectacular cake decorating feat of the past few years, and for good reason. They look amazing! To spice up your cake for the big day, why not stick some confetti on the sides to make everything really pop!
The key to draining cakes is not to use too much frosting so that it completely covers the sides. You want just enough of it to make these awesome drops like in the photo above. Glue the numbers on top and you have a cake that all your loved ones envy.
6. Add fruit
Fruits still make desserts look a thousand times more refined than they did before you put those strawberry slices on top. In addition, they are delicious and give the cake a nice fruity juiciness!
You can add whatever fruit you want to a simple number cake, or take a classic cake and arrange your fruit in the number. When it comes to decoration, there is no wrong answer. Especially when it comes to fruit!
7. King of the Hill Cake
No, I’m not talking about a decorated cake like the beloved cartoon (although that would be pretty cool). I call this decorating technique the King of the Hill because you place a picture or – if you have carving skills – a little fondant sculpture of the birthday boy / girl on a layered cake. The cake itself can be themed with anything that someone special likes (music, comics, a favorite movie, etc.).
8. Add candy
Just like fruit, you can also add candy to make the day a little sweeter! I say it would be better to use the favorite candy of the person receiving the cake, but if you are not sure then go for the more colorful. It is always a safe bet. The brighter the colors, the more exciting a cake can look. Plus, it’s a candy, you can’t really go wrong with this one.
9. Be romantic with this
This is one of the numbered cakes Of course to put a smile on whoever it goes! If you don’t want to be as extravagant as the image above, I recommend going for the hearts only. This way you always get all the love you want and it will make the cake look clean and simple.
Of course, it is up to you. If you want to do everything to show how much you love someone, there is never too much a lot you can do!
10. Mini cakes with square numbers
This is a great idea for numbered cakes that I have personally never seen before. The way it works is you bake cupcakes for one serving. Each with their own number decoration on them. That way, there’s no need to smear anything with a large knife to slice through all your hard work.
Think appetizers, but with cake! Enough said.

11. A floral touch
To this day, I have no idea how it is possible to make beautiful, delicate looking flowers with sugar and frosting, but I absolutely love it! A single flower brings a whole new level to any dessert. They really bring out a subtle class to everything, but without going overboard to look tacky.
I love this cake above because they also incorporated berries into the cake, and it looks amazing! What do you think?
12. Use powdered sugar
Powdered sugar has long been known in baking. You can use it in two different ways to make this cake work: either lay a stencil to fill it with sugar, which looks fantastic, or lay cutouts and use the sugar to fill the space. about Numbers).
Whichever option you choose, you will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of powdered sugar added to the cake. I know I still am. You don’t even have to add anything else to the cake. It is like powdered sugar is useful as a decoration!
13. An unbeatable combo
Chocolate and strawberries are known far and wide as a combo that says “I love you” to whoever you give it to. This chef even dipped some of their strawberries in chocolate before adding them to the cake. Then a few sliced candy bars and a few macaroons later you have a gorgeous cake! In fact, you might avoid needing a birthday present if you walk in with this!
14. Find the craziest cake
Cake decorations can come in all shapes and sizes! Hundreds of new designs are being created all the time, so it can be difficult to choose which one works best. The good thing is that they’re also pretty cheap to make, so you can buy multiples of them to compare on top of your cake. Anything you don’t use, keep it! There is always a birthday cake that needs a topper somewhere.
15. Cookies and cream
Another combo to die for! This simple number cake is topped with Oreo’s (large and small) and pieces of Hershey’s Cookies & Cream chocolate bars. I don’t know about you, but for my next birthday, that’s what I’m asking! Maybe not this particular one, I’m just over 5 years old, but I will still enjoy this cake number!
16. Find the perfect theme
Finding the perfect theme for a cake shows that you really know the person you’re giving it to. What are their interests? Do they have a favorite movie, a series of books? Nailing the theme and implementing it throughout the cake is a huge accomplishment, and it doesn’t take too long. A little reference here and there is all you will need to be crowned friend / sister / mother / daughter number 1 forever!
17. Add class
A little class never hurt anyone, and it looks so good. It’s a great design idea for an older birthday party, but it’s not limited to younger ones. When trying to look chic, pearls are almost always a must! Pearls give numbered cakes – and the recipient – a kind of respect that’s beautiful and subtle. I mean, when do you see things with pearls on them? They are a more sophisticated addition to designs and so easy to obtain for cakes. So why not?
18. Classic birthday cake
There is nothing wrong with going completely old-fashioned for a birthday. It’s always cake, isn’t it? A cute rectangular cake, some frosting on top, and the number of candles you need to match the age. Arrange your candles in numbers if you can, otherwise; too bad.
No one will be upset if you walk in with a simple cake. Everyone loves the cake! Sophisticated decorations are just the, well, they’re just the icing on the cake. The frosting on the actual frosting, I guess.
19. Bring out the inner party animal
If you strive to make numbered cakes, why not make it fun? What is someone special’s favorite animal? It’s an easy way to decorate a super fun cake that everyone will enjoy! A few scratches here, a few spots there, maybe a fin or two. Everyone has a favorite animal, and with a quick image search, you’ll know exactly how to decorate a cake to look like them!
20. Go for simplicity
As I said before, simple can be just as good – if not better – than the fanciest numbered cake with all the decorations and spice. Get your numbered cake and add a few sugar flowers on top, or do a few quick zigzags on top with frosting.
When it comes to being simple with digital cakes, there are hundreds of things you can do. Especially if you are using a number shaped cake. It’s already different from normal cakes, so now you just have to add this thing to bring it on top. No wrong answers.
21. Go all out
We will now move to the other side of the spectrum of simplicity and over-the-top cake decorations! This cake is for a birthday. A celebration of someone you love! Why wouldn’t you go out of your way to decorate cakes? Do it in layers and give each layer its own unique design, then top it off with a spectacular mattress topper!
I will say this option is for the most avid cake decorator, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time trying it out for yourself! I love the way the cake above has spirals coming out from all directions. Add a wacky touch that’s perfect with a birthday cake!
