Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) inducts Waqar Younis into Hall of Fame


The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially inducted former captain and speedster Waqar Younis into the PCB Hall of Fame.

Former Pakistani pacer Waqar Younis played 87 Tests and 262 One Day Internationals for his team and he managed to win 373 Test wickets and 416 One Day International wickets. Additionally, he was able to pick 22 five-wicket runs in Tests and 13 five-wicket runs in ODIs.

Meanwhile, on Day 3 of the 3rd Pakistan-Australia Test Match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Waqar Younis received his commemorative cap and plaque.

While talking about his induction into the Pakistan Cricket Board Hall of Fame, Waqar Younis said he was honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He said:

“I am honored to have been inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame with my mother and wife by my side. In fact, it was an honor to receive the beautiful plaque from my mother, who has been my inspiration throughout this a very rewarding and immensely satisfying journey of cricket and without her blessing I could not have accomplished so much as a professional.

The former pacer further added that representing Pakistan in international cricket was a dream moment come true for him. He asserted:

“Playing for Pakistan was a dream come true and I still cherish every moment of wearing the Pakistani color. And to be rewarded by the Pakistan Cricket Board with this honor 19 years after last representing my country is just the cherry on the cake, for which I am grateful to them.

Waqar Younis also said it was a proud moment for him to be placed in the same category as Hall of Fame inductees Hanif Mohammad, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram and Zaheer Abbas, and Abdul Qadir and Fazal Mahmood, who was recently inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame. He precised :

“It is indeed a very proud moment for me to be placed in the same category as Abdul Qadir, Fazal Mahmood, Hanif Mohammad, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram and Zaheer Abbas. These individuals are absolute legends of the game and their achievements and successes are well documented.

“I would like to thank all the players with and against whom I have played and all the support staff who have contributed to my achievements.”
