This easy rum cake recipe will make you the star of your family

Ingredient – For 8 servings

3/4 cup seasoned rum

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon orange zest

3/4 cup milk

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 cup pecans, chopped

1 teaspoon of salt

Granulated sugar, 1/2 cup

4 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup maida/all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon cocoa powder

Step 1: Preheat the oven

Start by preheating the oven to 180°C and lightly butter a cake tin. Spread the chopped pecans evenly in the pan.

Step 2: Prepare the cake mix

In a mixing dish, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda/powder and salt. In a separate dish, cream the butter, sugar and orange zest for 2 minutes. Stir in cream, eggs, powdered sugar and vanilla extract until well blended.

Step 3: Mix the ingredients

Mix dry items into wet ingredients at slower speeds. Gradually stir in the rum and milk until well incorporated and the batter is thick.

Once the dough is ready, bake for 1 hour. Let cool and invert the cake onto a serving platter.
