DuBOIS — More hirings and resignations were approved at the DuBois area school board meeting last Thursday.
The following hires, beginning in the 2022-23 school year, have been approved:
- Jacob Landini as a salaried science instructor, under contract, baccalaureate, step 2, year 2.
- Ryan Troupe as an Elementary Instructor for pay, under contract, baccalaureate, echelon 7, year 7.
- Lauren Alworth as a Paid Special Educator, Contract, Bachelor’s, Step 1, Year 1.
- Kristin Hawthorn as a paid ESL teacher, under contract, masters, level 13, year 19.
- Nathaniel Horner as a paid English teacher, under contract, license, level 1, year 1.
- Katelyn Heigel as a Paid Speech Language Pathology Teacher, Contract, Masters, Level 2, Year 2.
Audrey Null was hired as the director of the Virtual Academy with a salary of $70,000, effective July 1 or later (per Law 93 agreement).
Lyndee Weigel has been hired as a janitor (third shift) at DuBois Area Middle School (2,080 hours per year), effective July 1.
Corey Long has been hired as a janitor (third shift) at DuBois Area Senior High School (2,080 hours per year), effective July 1.
Following the bidding process, the board approved Dustin Shindledecker’s status change from middle school guard (1,248 hours per year) to high school guard (second shift) (2,080 hours per year), on or after June 20. Also, Lisa Muth’s change in status from paraprofessional (special education teacher’s aide) in middle school (882 hours per year) to paraprofessional (special education teacher’s aide) in Oklahoma Elementary School (990 hours per year ), from the start of the 2023 academic year.
The board appointed Janice Bart as Officer in Charge/Director of School Safety and Security, Jeffrey Wilson as Deputy Officer in Charge and William Mostyn as Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations, all for the 2022-23 school year.
The board approved the hiring of Jacob Krupa (Chemistry/General Science) and Jason Shilala (Biology) for the High School Summer School Program to be held July 11-July 28 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week) subject to registration. This will be paid with ESSER funds.
The following people have been hired for the 2022 Elementary Summer Skills Enhancement/Elementary Summer Extension Programs, subject to registration, July 11-28: Instructors Laura Murray, Janey London and Cristin Hickman ; Elementary Summer Extension Program (July 11-28): Dawn Badtorff; and alternate Vicki Gulvas.
The board rescinded the action (April 21 board meeting) hiring Annette Davis as an instructor for the 2022 extended school year program, and the action (May 12 board meeting) hiring Sara Stuart as an instructor for the program Elementary Summer Skills Enhancement Program and approved her employment as an instructor for the 2022 extended school year program, subject to enrollment.
The board has hired Katelyn Bauer as an instructor (speech) for the 2022 extended school year program, subject to enrollment. Marissa Douthit and Kelly McCall have been hired as substitute instructors for the Special Education Summer Credit Recovery Program (to be paid for with ARP ESSER funds).
Amanda Rosman has been hired as assistant athletic director for the 2022-23 school year with a $5,000 stipend.
Jacob Krupa has been hired for the additional position of varsity assistant for interscholastic winter sports wrestling for the 2022-23 school year, as per contract.
The board rescinded the action (April 21 board meeting) hiring Audrey Null as an instructor for the 2022 extended school year program, and the action (April 21 board meeting) hiring Ashley Kriner as a substitute instructor for the 2022 extended school year program and approved her hiring as an instructor for the 2022 extended school year program.
The board also canceled the action (April 21 board meeting) hiring Cameron Yard as a science instructor, as per the contract.
Traveling caretaker Christopher Curley has been approved for retirement, effective August 11. Superintendent Wendy Benton thanked him for his 29 years of service to the district.
The following resignations were approved:
- Erin Eckley, Paraprofessional (Special Education Teacher Assistant), Wasson Elementary School, effective at the end of the 2021-22 school year.
- Elisha Burns, Elementary Instructor, Juniata Elementary, effective at the end of the 2021-22 school year.
- Jeffrey Bilquist, Information Technology Technician, effective June 10.
