It’s another beautiful day in the Valley and I’ve been celebrating my 75th birthday for a whole week. It is such a great blessing to be with my children and friends to eat cake, accept gifts and celebrate the many years and all the wonderful experiences we have had over the years. I offer a big “thank you” to everyone for helping to make this week so special for me and my family. It’s the little things in life that mean the most to us.

Silver Threads Seniors Club is still active with daily activities in the building. Our membership has dwindled a bit during COVID, so we ask all new seniors who have moved to the area to come meet Faye and pick up a brochure with all the activities listed. It will give you information about the club as a place to welcome you to our community.
The cost of a membership is only $25 per year (fiscal year, April to March). We also charge a small fee for activities, and you can have tea or coffee with your activity.
We have elections coming up in September and we invite anyone who might be interested to nominate their name for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and/or Director. All of these positions make up the Silver Threads Seniors Club Board of Directors.
We have an assortment of frozen foods and they can be purchased for the low price of $7 per item. You can also get delicious desserts for family or friends for the same price.
Tickets for the quilt raffle are available daily at the office. The winner of the quilt will be drawn at the Christmas dinner and dance to be held in December. Get your tickets to support the club eventually win a nice duvet.
The club’s summer activities are: fitness, arts, painting, bingo, bid euchre, regular euchre, yoga and the fitness room is open every day.
Check out the book club meeting Thursday, July 21 in the upstairs activity room with Sarah St. Michael from the Petawawa Public Library. We have good discussions.
The Silver Threads Seniors Building is located at 1163 Victoria Street, Petawawa. We have plenty of parking spaces, an elevator, air conditioning, automatic doors and a small library with books and puzzles. It is located in a nice area of town with the Centennial Park Boardwalk close to the building.
We have a container where you can drop off food bank donations. These items are picked up every Friday by a food bank volunteer.
Take care of yourself and others. See you at the Club!
