West Central School Board renews contracts for non-certified full-year principal employees – WKVI Information Center

Members of the West Central School Board discussed a proposal to renew building superintendent contracts when they met last week.

Superintendent Dan Zylstra said slight changes have been made to the contracts.

“We have approved updated master contracts for our building managers. We are very grateful for the work they have done, so we have extended their contracts for two years. There was a raise for head teachers for the next year. We did a two-year collective agreement for teachers that we ratified last fall so they automatically get a built-in raise, but since principals aren’t part of that, we wanted to give them one too,” Zylstra said. .

Contracts for uncertified employees have also been approved, according to Zylstra.

“These are the people who are here all year and we had approved a pay rise for them at the last board meeting, so we approved those contracts.”

This was Superintendent Dan Zylstra’s last board meeting as superintendent of the company. He will leave the position at the end of the month, then Dr Cathy Rowe will take over. The board recognized Zylstra at last week’s meeting where the board thanked him for his years of service and presented a cake in his honor.
