  1. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Put aside.
  2. In another bowl, beat together the 1/3 cup butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Whisk flour mixture until just combined.
  3. Mix the melted butter and brown sugar in a 9 inch round mold. Garnish with the plums. Pour the batter on top.
  4. Bake in preheated 350 degree F oven for about 40 minutes. Let the cake cool for a few minutes before inverting it onto a serving platter.
